Bunker Hill, IN (April 13, 2017) – On Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Miami Correctional Facility, Harrison Shepherd, DOC# 179656 was found unresponsive in his cell at 11:21 p.m. An emergency medical signal was called where first responders and medical staff responded and came to his assistance. He was transported by ambulance to Duke’s Memorial Hospital. Offender Shepherd was pronounced dead at Duke’s Memorial Hospital at 2:11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2017.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. An investigation is pending with the Division of Investigations and Intelligence at Miami Correctional Facility and the Indiana State Police.
Offender Shepherd, 23 years of age, was sentenced out of Wabash County, and was serving a six (6) year sentence for Burglary. His earliest possible release date was July 2018.
