At Big Ben Coffee, 2130 W. Sycamore St., the cold brew coffee is hot for the taking. This coffee, where the grounds are brewed in cold water over a 24-hour span, is smooth on the palette and features 67-percent less acidity than regular coffee.

“It has almost twice the caffeine, so you have to be cautious how much you drink, though,” said owner Deb Copeland. “We’ll be glad to add almond milk or any flavor to it – caramel, vanilla, anything. Some of our customers get it with whipped cream that we make here at the store.”
