This St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll find the party in downtown Kokomo as several venues have festivities planned for the Irish holiday on Saturday, March 17.

Practically a St. Paddy’s institution, Cook McDoogal’s is gearing up for its 7th annual St. Patrick’s Day Party. But they’ll be switching things up this year since Mother Nature hasn’t been overly kind to them throughout the event’s history.

For the first time, the annual event will be held in the Irish pub’s upstairs party room. Brian Dishon, the restaurant’s manager, said he’s hopeful that moving the party indoors will keep the fun going for longer.

“One out of six years, the weather has been good,” he said. “People come for an hour and leave because they’re freezing.”

The restaurant will be open for lunch starting at 11 a.m. Saturday with a limited holiday menu.

The party will get started upstairs at 5 p.m., with Barefoot Murphy performing at 7 p.m.

They’ll have their regular lineup of Irish beers and Irish cocktails. There will also be a beer tub, which Dishon said beckons back to the days of Sondy’s Sycamore Grill.

“Sondy’s was always so busy at the bar that they had a beer tub,” he said. “It was way easier. So, we’ll have a beer tub if you don’t want to wait at the bar.”

There’s a $5 charge to get into the party upstairs. There will be giveaways for the first 100 people in the door, including holiday-themed buttons, beads, hats and T-shirts.

The restaurant is located at 100 N. Main St. and can be reached by calling 765-450-6143.

Treasure at Tin Man Brewing
Tin Man Brewing invites you to find the treasure at the end of the rainbow during its St. Patrick’s Day Treasure Hunt from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday.

The downtown brewery will place hints at three places in downtown Kokomo. Find the hints, snap a selfie and head to Tin Man to win a prize. Organizers say each location offers a chance to win a prize so you should try to hit all three.

They’ll have drink specials — $1 off Rev It Up Irish Red Ale and Tin Lore Oatmeal Stout — and The Local BBQ will be offering tableside service until 9 p.m.

The brewery is located at 500 N. Buckeye St. and can be reached by calling 765-416-0599.

Two days of parties at The Coterie
The holiday fun starts a day early at The Coterie with its Paddy’s Pre Party where they’ll serve Penny Pints. They’ll open at noon on Friday, March 16, with 1 cent pints of Burn ‘Em Brewing when you purchase a stadium pint. There will be custom stadium cups that can purchased and used all weekend for specials on beer and Irish drinks. The Local BBQ will be serving lunch in front of the venue, starting at noon.

The TVs will be tuned to NCAA March Madness all day, and Spencer LemiVice will DJ all evening.

Saturday will bring The Coterie’s St. Paddy Party, starting at 5 p.m. Taking over the taps will be Flat12 Bierwerks, Burn ‘Em Brewing and Fountain Square Brewing Co.

Live music will start at 9 p.m., featuring The Trees and Shady Mayor.

The Coterie is located on the second floor of 107 W. Sycamore St. and can be reached by 765-450-5002.
