Indiana University Kokomo contributes to the growing arts culture in Kokomo with plans to open a gallery downtown in early 2016.

Chancellor Susan Sciame-Giesecke, together with art faculty members and students, will formally announce plans for the gallery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, at the Firestone Building, 219 N. Union Street, Kokomo.

“We appreciate this opportunity for our students and faculty to display and sell their artwork to the community, in Kokomo’s vibrant downtown,” Sciame-Giesecke said. “We are grateful to Dr. and Mrs. Charles Simons, whose generosity makes it possible.

“We are also grateful to Jeff Broughton, owner of KipCor, for supporting the build out of the downtown gallery, which will be IU Kokomo’s second, along with its current gallery in the Kelley Student Center,” she added.

The downtown location also will include classroom and work space.

Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
