    One of the most contentious local debates took another turn this week as amendments to the Kokomo Common Council’s smoke–free ordinance failed by a 5-4 margin.

    Kokomo is called the City of Firsts for good reason – namely the invention of the motorized automobile by Elwood Haynes. In 2006, the Howard County Automotive Heritage Hall of Fame was founded to recognize and preserve the history and legacy of those who played significant roles in the development of the automobile.

    One complaint that is heard around Howard County is that there is nothing to do on weekends for children. The Kiwanis Club of Kokomo heard that complaint and decided to do something about it.

    The 18th annual Taste of Kokomo, voted Kokomo’s best event ten years in a row, will be held next Sat., Aug. 16, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in Foster Park.  All proceeds will benefit the United Way of Howard County.  This year, the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce joins in as a major partner.
