    Saint Patrick Parish is inviting the public out to its first annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The evening will be a mix of the old fall festival with a new, German twist.

    I remember a skit from the old Hee Haw television show that featured some extremely lazy fellows lying around, barely having enough energy to hold a conversation. One of them says, “There is a very pretty girl coming our way!” Another of them replied, “I sure wish I was facing in that direction!”

    Jonathan Newton is the new pastor at First Friends Meeting of Kokomo.  Gary Jones, who retired in July, served as pastor of First Friends Meeting for the past five years.

    The Scriptures tell us Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. Jesus appeared twelve times on earth to believers over a forty day period before his ascension.

    One of my favorite stories in the Bible is in Mark 2, where some people brought a paralyzed man to Jesus. Word was spreading that Jesus had the ability to heal, so these men carried their friend to him, hoping for a miracle.

    As I write this I am one day away from a milestone birthday. I was born in 1957, so you can do the math. As I grow older I tend to reflect more on life, and here are some of the observations I have made lately.

    Matthew 18 is a very important chapter in the New Testament. It gives us a great deal of information about what Jesus expects from us as we live our lives for him. He wants us to have a heart for his kingdom.
