On March 2, 2017, at approximately 11:06 a.m. officers of the Kokomo Police Department were dispatched to Kohl’s; 2156 E. Boulevard, in reference to a person passing a counterfeit bill. As officers were responding they were advised the person had left Kohl’s and entered TJ Maxx. Upon their arrival, officers located Jeffrey A. Penner, age 32, of North Fort Myers, Florida.

The investigation led detectives of the Kokomo Police Department to a local hotel room. Upon searching the hotel room, detectives located a large sum of counterfeit money, counterfeit money which was in the process of being made, new merchandise, and several receipts from Kokomo area retailers.

Penner was arrested and charged with two counts of Counterfeiting, Level 6 Felonies and one count of Theft, a Level 6 Felony. Detectives have also identified other possible suspects and expect additional charges to be filed in this case.
