Executive Director of Emergency Response Operations, Richard Curry announced the selection of Correctional Lieutenant Rita Beemer as a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team. 

Lt. Beemer will serve as an active member on the Northern Region team. CISM is one of six Emergency Response Teams within the Department of Correction. CISM is a comprehensive, organized approach for reduction and control of harmful stress. CISM also provides assistance to employees who, in the course of their work, may become involved or may have knowledge of a critical incident which transpired at their facility.

“Lt. Beemer is a motivated staff member that brings with her a vast array of knowledge and job experience that will be most advantageous to the betterment of the CISM team,” stated Deputy Warden Tim Riggle.

Lt. Beemer brings with her several years of correctional experience. She has worked in numerous roles during her correctional career including Housing Unit Lieutenant, Shift Supervisor, Disciplinary Hearing Officer, Trip Officer, Dispatcher, Yard Sergeant, and Operational Phase Sergeant as well as other job duties. Lt. Beemer has also served on the Quick Response Team and the Situation Control (SITCON) Team. She has also completed several specialized trainings and programs including the Indiana Department of Correction Supervisory Program, Women in Leadership Phase I and Phase II Program, and the Leadership Academy.
