On behalf of Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, I am pleased to announce that 18 months of preparation is now in the rear-view mirror and the “Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference” exhibit is open to the public. KHCPL is the only library in Indiana to have the three-month exhibit, and one of only eight in the nation.
The Discover Fun launch party on Saturday, Feb. 25, was a true community effort. Northwestern and Western school corporations together provided 25 volunteers. We loved watching middle- and high-school students teach others, kids through adults, about STEM. It was a highlight of the day. Check out our photos on social media to be inspired about our county’s future.
KHCPL is also grateful for Jarrell Orthodontics. The entire staff volunteered, along with people from Crossroads Community Church’s Middle Grade Ministry, Ignite, and IU Kokomo.
If you were one of the 500 who attended Discover Fun to check out Discover Tech, remember to thank the partner organizations that made it possible, including Windmill Grill/Elite Banquet and Conference Center, which provided great food and friendly, helpful service.
The night before Discover Fun, KHCPL hosted a ribbon-cutting with community leaders. We were grateful to see a state legislator, county commissioners, city council members, and others make the time to explore the exhibit. They led by example in showing Kokomo, Howard County, and Indiana that STEM is crucial for the future.
KHCPL’s vision is for the library to be a vital component in an engaged and thriving community. Thank you for all you do to partner with us as we work to achieve that vision.
