The dogs of summer have had their time to shine in the sun, but there are other hot spots in Kokomo where  man’s best friend is welcome.

Whether it’s out for a run or to grab a bite to eat, there are several options around the City of Firsts that cater to dog owners. Check out a list of the best places you can visit with your pup.

• Tin Man Brewing Kokomo is the perfect place to grab your favorite locally-brewed IPA all while enjoying the company of your pet. Dogs are welcome inside the brewery’s tap room, and guests can enjoy beer, board games, and even bring in food from any restaurant of their choosing. Or, if guests are so inclined, they can order in from a number of restaurants just yards from the taproom. Tin Man is located at 500 N. Buckeye St.

• Cook McDoogal’s Irish Pub offers an outside patio right in the heart of downtown Kokomo, and making it even better is the fact that dogs can join their owners in the establishment’s gated outdoor seating. Adding to the appeal of the location is the Irish pub fare and draft beer selection. Want to take Sparky out for a night on the town and snag some McDoogal balls? Here’s the place for you. Cook McDoogal’s is located at 100 N. Main St.

• Naturally, if a night out on the town isn’t on the to-do list, then snagging a Frisbee or a tennis ball and hitting one of Kokomo’s dog parks might be more up your alley. Luckily for local dog owners, there’s not one but two dog parks in the area. There’s Mehlig Dog Park, located at 1701 W. Carter St., and Mohr Dog Park, located on the opposite side of town at 2302 Saratoga Ave. These parks have everything you need to help your dog get some exercise and socialize.
