Kokomo, IN (Feb. 5, 2017) – Kokomo Humane Society of Howard County, today announced it has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its New Digs Capital Campaign building project.

The Kokomo Humane Society is a nonprofit organization serving Howard County. Since 1891, the Humane Society has worked diligently to have a positive impact on companion animals, and its mission to improve the lives of animals; prevent cruelty through education; and unite pets with families.

The Petco Foundation investment will make it possible to complete the dream of constructing a new facility on the corner of Hoffer Street and Home Avenue. The organization expects to break ground this spring. This will be a much improved temporary home for the animals cared for as well as a more inviting place for people to come look for a lost pet, adopt a new best friend or volunteer.

“This investment from the Petco Foundation is important as it will help the organization reach its goal of a new home for the Kokomo Humane Society,” said Karen Wolfe, Executive Director. “The Petco Foundation's support of the lifesaving work we do is a fantastic vote of confidence for our organization. We know how far we have come and with our new facility there is so much more we can do for animals as well as residents in our community.”
