    It was a perfect ending to a perfect season for Eastern High School’s Evan Ellis. In front of nearly 12,500 wrestling fans at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Feb. 18, the senior soared to an altitude no other Comet had obtained – an IHSAA wrestling state championship.

    Three hundred ninety-nine teams were drawn and placed into brackets for the 107th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament presented by the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever.
  • Western’s Poe wins sectional title

    The Carmel Greyhounds won every event at the IHSAA Noblesville Boys Swimming and Diving Sectional except one, the one-meter dive. For the second consecutive year, the sectional diving champion was Western’s Cameron Poe. 
  • Grapplers advance to semi-state

    One week after winning its fourth consecutive sectional title on its home mats, the Oak Hill Golden Eagles captured its third straight regional title on the road at Peru.

    For the fourth consecutive year, the Oak Hill Golden Eagles captured its own IHSAA wrestling sectional, but this title did not come as easy as past years as the Golden Eagles clipped runners-up Western 231-226.5.
  • Northwestern cruises to semifinals

    The IHSAA girls basketball tournament tipped off on Jan. 31 with five area teams in action. Unfortunately, only the Northwestern Lady Tigers advanced out of the first night of games while Tipton, Kokomo and Taylor drew byes into the semifinals.
  • Eastern wins two titles

    The Eastern Comets won the Hoosier Heartland Conference wrestling team title by cruising past runners-up Clinton Prairie 298.5-208. Rossville finished third with 196 team points, followed by Clinton Central (158), Sheridan (155), Tri-Central (137), Frontier (125), Taylor (68), Carroll (61) and Tri-County (38).
  • Tigers second in the pool
    1/19/2017
    The Northwestern Tigers finished as Hoosier Conference runners-up at the league meet in the pool at Purdue University. The Tigers trailed champion West Lafayette 367.5 to 364 in a close finish. Western was third with 290 points.
