Howard County sign-ups and sports briefs for the Thursday, June 22, 2017 edition of the Kokomo Herald. 


PAL football sign-ups
will be held June 24 from 10a-2p, and June 25 from 1p-4p at the PAL field (3520 W. Boulevard). Prospective players must bring a birth certificate. Flag football is for players ages 5 years through grade 2. Junior tackle football is for players in grades 3-4, and Senior tackle is for players in grades 5-6. Games will be  Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Kokomo Wildkat basketball camp will run June 26-29 for grades 5-8. Coach Bob Wonnell will focus on ball handling, shooting techniques, and fundamentals. For more information, see the KHS Athletics website at https://www.kokomoschools.com/Page/1940.

The Kokomo Lady Kats middle school Elite camp will be held for incoming 6th-8th graders from June 27-29. Instruction on fundamentals and competitive drive while encouraging team play. For more information, see the KHS Athletics website at https://www.kokomoschools.com/Page/1940.

Kokomo football camp
will be held July 10-12 at the Kokomo High School practice football fields. Any Kokomo student in grades 1-8 (as of fall 2017). For more information, see the KHS Athletics website at https://www.kokomoschools.com/Page/1940.

Lady Kats middle school soccer camp will be held July 17-21 for girls in grades 6-8 (as of fall 2017). Each participant will need shin guards and water each day. For more information, see the KHS Athletics website at https://www.kokomoschools.com/Page/1940.

Youth Wildkats soccer camp will be held July 24-28 for girls in grades kindergarten through fifth grade at the Kokomo High School soccer complex. For more information, see the KHS Athletics website at https://www.kokomoschools.com/Page/1940.

The 2017 Kokomo Lady Kats softball camps
will be held Sept. 12-14 at Kokomo High School. The skills camp is Sept. 12-13 from 4p-6p for 11-15 year olds and 6p-8p for 6-10 year olds. On Sept. 14, there will be an additional camp held for pitchers and catchers. Intermediate/advanced pitchers and catchers will attend from 4p-5:30p. Beginning pitchers and catchers will be taught fundamentals from 5:30p-7p.m.

The Kokomo Family YMCA will accept sign-ups for the following camps:

Volleyball Camp: From June 19-23 at the YMCA Gym; junior camp is for grades 3-5 from 5-6 p.m. and senior camp is for grades 5-8 from 6:15-7:30 p.m.
Basketball Camp: From June 26-30 at the YMCA Gym; junior camp is for ages 6-9 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and senior camp is for ages 10-14 from 6:45-8 p.m.
Little Dribblers Camp: From July 24-28 at the YMCA Gym for ages 4-6 from 5:15-6:15 p.m.
Summer T-Ball: Fun and learning are the emphasis of this league where children get their first exposure to America’s pastime. The league runs from July 8-Aug. 12 on Saturdays for ages 3-5 at Darrough Chapel Park.
Summer Centipede Soccer: This program focuses on the fundamentals of soccer in a non-competitive atmosphere. The league runs from July 8 to Aug. 12 on Saturdays for ages 3-5 at Darrough Chapel Park.

The elementary and middle school Kokomo Wildkat second week of tennis camp

Kokomo High School is accepting orders for All Sports Passes for the 2017-2018 school year. Passes for adults are $75, seniors (ages 65+) $60, and student passes are on sale for $25 through Aug. 18. Student tickets purchased on and after Aug. 19 will be $45. Girls or boys basketball season tickets are $40.
