On Dec. 10, the Lewis Cass Lady Kings flew past the Maconaquah Braves 51-37. Savanna Thompson, a senior, led the Lady Kings with 13 points. Abrah Humerickhouse, a junior, followed with 11 points. Finally, Olivia Collins, also a senior, added to the score with eight. The Lady Kings led the Braves 28-18 at halftime.

“In the second half we started in man and put Savanna Thompson on White and she did a tremendous job holding her to one point in the second half,” said head coach Mike Collins. “Savanna did a great job pressuring her and keeping the ball out of her hands.” 

The ladies also defeated the Delphi Oracles 57-52 on Dec. 13. Throughout the game, the girls trailed up until the fourth quarter. Ending the third, the girls followed 36-34. Thompson led the Kings with 32 points. She became one of the 15 people in Lewis Cass history to reach the 1,000 point club. Miah Martin, a sophomore, followed with 11 points. Collins and Humerickhouse added to the score with six. Humerickhouse also led the Kings with nine rebounds with Martin adding eight. 

The Lady Kings face the Western Panthers on Dec. 17 at 11 a.m.

In addition to the Lady Kings victory, the boys basketball team continued their winning streak as they defeated the Carroll Cougars 50-43. As a team, the Kings shot 43 percent. At the line, the Kings shot 44 percent causing them to maintain their lead. 

Altogether, the Kings had eight offensive rebounds and 13 defensive rebounds adding up to a total of 21. Individually, Alec Eurit, a senior, led the team with 21 points. Kace Kitchel, a junior, followed close behind adding 13 points. Cohen Nies, also a senior, added to the win with 12 points total. 

Off the board, Nies had seven rebounds securing the win for the Kings. The team remains 3-0 with their win against Hamilton Heights as well 62-61.
