    For some, it is hard to believe Northwestern High School soon will be celebrating its 80th year of existence. Founded in 1948 during the school consolidation boom, few understand the rich history of the school better than 1955 graduate Dayton Merrell.

    The newest members to grace the hall are Bill Keaffaber, Dayton Merrell, Marsha Miller, Stan Rybolt, Rick Cardwell, DeWayne Ewing, Scott Robinson, Mark Klein Tuck, and Katie Hinkle Yohn as member of the 2017 induction class.

    The final phase of upgrades at Walter Cross Field should put the Home of the Wildkats in prime shape for years to come. The Kokomo School board of trustees voted unanimously to approve the installation of synthetic turf on the football field and a state-of-the-art track running surface.
