TJ Weir continues his season in relief for the San Antonio Missions (AA – San Diego Padres). He is holding a 2.21 ERA. Parker Sanburn remains with the Hickory Crawdads (A – Texas Rangers) in the short season. He has maintained a 2.19 ERA.

Kokomo High School distance coach Ricke Stucker was named a coach for the 2017 Indiana All-Star cross-country team. This is his 10th appearance as an All-Star coach.

The 2018 IHSAA Softball State finals will now take place at Purdue University’s Bittinger Stadium. The last 13 state championships have been decided at Ben Davis High School softball complex.

Kokomo Schools Wildkat 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sept. 29 at Kokomo High School. Proceeds from the fifth annual event will benefit the Kokomo Schools Education Foundation and Kokomo Schools. Registration for the event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the race will begin at 5 p.m.

At the North Central Conference Girls Golf tournament, Kokomo’s Kiah Parrott shot a 77, Sydney Murphy shot a 90, and Molly Mavrick a 96. The team finished with a 360 at Pebble Brook Golf Course, which was good for third place.

In varsity football: Northwestern fell to Lewis Cass 15-31, Kokomo dropped their second game of the season to McCutcheon 10-26, Western falls to 1-3 after losing to Culver Academy 28-35. Eastern moves to 4-0 on the season after defeating Taylor 22-18.

Northwestern’s boys’ varsity soccer team finished third in the Hoosier Conference tournament. 

Northwestern High School golfers Emily Martin and Allison Miller were named All Hoosier Conference for girls golf. The Lady Tigers shot a 356 to finish third overall in the conference tournament.

The Western Lady Panther varsity golf team earned second place in the Hoosier Conference tournament. Gill, Smith, and Tuchscherer earned All-Conference honors.

Eastern varsity football will play Carroll at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday. Pre-sale tickets are available in the athletic office ($12 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under). Tickets are $15 at the gate.
