Howard County sign-ups and sports briefs for the Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 edition of the Kokomo Herald.

Central Indiana’s only USA Track-and-Field Club, K-Town Elite Track is accepting new members throughout Indiana for its fall training season beginning Sept. 4, at 4:30 p.m. at Jackson Morrow Park.

Determined by year of birth, there are six USATF age groups for boys and girls: 8 & under; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14; 15-16; and 17-18. K-Town Elite is open to home-schooled students.

New-and-old members should come dressed to train. There will be a short meeting for new members addressing the registration process, code of conduct, parent/guardian information forms, and travel-release forms. 

There is a $75 yearly Club registration fee. Practice sessions are typically $10 a session. The club’s scheduled practices are Thursday, Saturday and Sunday; however, other days can be added to accommodate each athletes’ schedule. 

The Club’s focus is on the jumps, hurdles, relays, sprints and distances up to 3200 meters. The events are coached by K.O. Jackson, a USATF Level II coach in the sprints, jumps and hurdles and a USATF Level I instructor.

Kokomo High School is accepting orders for All Sports Passes for the 2017-2018 school year. Passes for adults are $75, seniors (ages 65+) $60, and student passes are $45. Girls or boys basketball season tickets are $40. Applications for the tickets can be found on the KHS Athletics website

The 2017 Kokomo Lady Kats softball camps will be held Sept. 12-14 at Kokomo High School. This is a change from the previously released dates. The skills camp will be Sept. 12-13 from 4p-6p for 11-15 year olds and 6p-8p for 6-10 year olds. The skills camp will focus on hitting, fielding, and base running. On Sept. 14, there will be an additional camp held for pitchers and catchers. Intermediate/advanced pitchers and catchers will attend from 4p-5:30p. Beginning pitchers and catchers will be taught fundamentals from 5:30p-7p.

Eastern High School is selling tickets for the Lucas Oil Stadium Showcase on Sept. 16. The Comet football team will face Carroll at 2:30 p.m. Advanced tickets are available in the Eastern Athletic Office. Adults and students at $12 and children under 12 are $8. Tickets will be available at the gate for $15.
