    The annual IHSAA softball and baseball sectionals start next week, and local squads are excited to see how they match-up against the field. 
  • Baseball sectional pairings

    A field of 384 teams will begin play later this month as the pairings for the 51st Annual IHSAA Baseball State Tournament Series were announced. Host schools will announce playing schedules in the days to come which will then be added to the online brackets at MaxPreps.com.
  • Western and IUK hire coaches

    Howard County schools hired three varsity head coaches last week in the sports of basketball and football. At Indiana University Kokomo, Nicole “Colie” Trawick was named the new women’s basketball coach. Trawick is currently the head coach at Massasoit Community College.

    Three times last weekend the Kokomo Wildkats baseball team found themselves in a hole. And three times they found a way to pull off a victory. The result of a 3-0 weekend was a perfect start for the Class 4A No. 5 Wildkats and a 12-0 record midway through the campaign.

  • IHSAA releases reclassification numbers

    The organizing body of Indiana high school sports recently released the classifications for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 schools years for the sports of boys basketball, girls basketball, football, volleyball, boys soccer and girls soccer. Baseball and softball will be released at a later date.

    Austin Weaver knows a thing or two about shooting the rock. But as a sophomore at Indiana University South Bend, he thought his competitive days of hoops were limited to the blacktopped basketball courts in pick-up games.
