All-North Central Conference (NCC) recognition was given over the weekend for girls and boys soccer and volleyball.
All-NCC First Team accolades were given to the following students from Kokomo High School: Maya James (girls soccer), Cortlandt Kalkstein (boys soccer), and Kylee Lauderbaugh (volleyball).

All-NCC Second Team honors were bestowed upon Coralyn Hawley (girls soccer), Blake White (boys soccer), and Gabby Cooper (volleyball) from Kokomo High School.

The Western Panther and Kokomo Wildkat football teams both advance in the 2017 IHSAA State Tournament. The Panthers (7-4) downed Pendleton Heights 7-35 and will go on to face Mississinewa (9-2) on the road Friday. The Wildkats (6-4) defeated conference foe Harrison 8-13 and will play rival McCutcheon in Lafayette on Friday. Both teams will be going for the Sectional title with Kokomo seeking its third-straight championship.

Northwestern Lady Tigers have been ranked 13 in the pre-season coaches’ poll for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

On Oct. 28, the IU Kokomo Volleyball team tied the program record for most consecutive wins at 19 following the win over IU Southeast. 

Carver Community Center is accepting registration for the upcoming fall and winter basketball leagues for children in grades K-12. The season runs Dec. 5 through Feb. 24 with an end of season tournament. Cost is $75 per child or $400 per team.

Two IU Kokomo volleyball players pick up conference player of the week nods. Outside hitter Lindi Thomas was named Defender of the Week for the second time this season and Nyssa Baker added to her growing tally of weekly awards by being recognized as the River States Conference Attacker of the week. The ladies continue to garner conference attention as they picked up their 19th straight match victory last weekend.
