Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight announced that Leevi Combs of Boulevard Elementary was the first-place winner of the 2017 Mayor’s Christmas Card Contest.

Goodnight introduced Combs along with each of the finalists during a press conference last week at City Hall. Combs’ design will be the official Christmas card of the mayor, and it will be sent to hundreds of individuals, including local, state, and federal officials, as well as the U.S. President and  Vice President.

Combs’ design features Santa Claus and his reindeer along with a large Christmas tree.

“I have enjoyed getting to select the Christmas card each year,” said Goodnight. “The contest highlights just how talented our local students are and it is a highlight of the season for me.”

The annual contest, open to all fourth-grade students in Kokomo Schools, is a long-standing tradition between Kokomo Schools, Mayor’s office, and the Kokomo Community Arts Commission.

Local students submitted nearly 100 designs this year. Kokomo Community Arts Commission members selected the finalists and forwarded those to Goodnight for his final selection.
